The Intersection Between Network Topology and Security

Network security typically invokes the image of barriers and firewalls protecting the internal network from the outside world. The network stays cloistered away and security is an epic battle fought at the fronts. This image is long dead in the post-security world.

Security has become a ship riding through a violent sea. The hull should be strong, but the inside should be made to handle some degree of failure.… Read the rest

Why I Started Writing Shorter Articles

I started with an article. And then another. And then another. My brain was on fire that weekend.

I didn’t wake up with the plan to just sit and write. All I knew is that I wasn’t going to go out for the day without writing something I could put on my blog. The irony is that I had been trying to focus on longer content, but my hand was a bit forced.… Read the rest

The Jade Flute: A Review

This is an old, small book from many, many years before I was born which I (fortunately) stumbled onto on a clearance rack at a used bookstore. It’s 60 pages of content, small, and has a nice cover. When I picked it up, I figured it would be a read for riding shotgun in the car.

Read my tutorial on apt to get up to speed.… Read the rest

What Exactly Is Vivaldi?

Vivaldi is a browser which grew out of the ashes of a company created by Opera (see Wikipedia for more about the history).… Read the rest

A Review of the Korg Minilogue

The Korg Minilogue is a 4 voice polyphonic synthesizer. It has 37 synth keys, a sequencer, a delay, memory for presets, and an oscilloscope. It’s an amazing package overall, especially at the price point.

It has 2 oscillators per voice and a single LFO (with a selection of saw, triangle, and square waves for each). It includes the usual suite of MIDI (in and out), CV (in and out), monophonic 1/4″ out, 1/4″headphones, and USB.… Read the rest
